Bestop Supertop for Truck Compatible with 09-10 Ram 1500, 6.5 ft Bed Exterior Automotive Accessories

Ordered in June 2021. Received an incomplete shipment about 9 months later. Would get an email every two weeks saying shipping was updated but there was never a “you’ll have it by xxxx” date. It was always “yours will be here in 2 weeks and shipped a few days later”. Nothing was ever “firm”. This went on for about 8 months. Box was delivered damaged which is probably the reason the driver’s side bow stack was not in the box (the contents are poorly packaged which allows the parts/pieces to move about in the box during shipping thus causing damage to the box…no Styrofoam or other contents added to keep parts from moving about). Instructions are generic at best. Not specific for make and model. The frame that attaches to the truck bed will not “square up”. The tailgate end bows out as compared to the front of the frame when the set screws are tightened. However, when it is squared up and would follow the lip of the bed rail squarely, the tailgate rail does not fit in between the side rails. The gap is too small. When the front clamps are tightened down, they force the side rails to slide outwards, widening the gap between them. This allows the front rail (what the top attaches to) to slide back and forth between the side rails (I ensured that the correct (longer) rail was installed in the front). The lower part of the clamp needs to be longer. One of your YouTube videos has a Best Top rep saying that this top is 99% water and dust proof. That is the furthest thing from the truth. The rubber “seal” on the front rail will do little to nothing to stop any water, especially if you have a spray-in bed liner. Also, with the top installed, it causes the front of the side rails to flex up allowing about a 1/4 inch gap between the rail and bed frame. Good luck in the rain. I had to go out and purchase new set screws as the powder coating process makes it nearly impossible to get the supplied set screws in the holes without stripping them out. I ended up stripping out two of them and had to use pliers to get them out thus, ruining them in the process. The topper will serve my needs, kind of. However, I will never deal with Bestop again, nor would I recommend Bestop to any of my friends….or enemies.
