My 1999 civic LX 5 speed was experiencing intermittent speedometer issues. It would bottom out then out of the blue go back to working. One day while leaving work, the speedometer just refused to work. This also prevented my trip meter and overall mileage counter from working.Did some research on the civic forums and found this, a blown fuse, or worse the whole instrument cluster was failing. I started with the easiest solution and that was checking the fuse. I found all of them were fine and not blown.Next, I ordered this part. I had looked at the price of OEM and it was around 75-99 dollars. I typically do not mind spending money on a genuine part, however, I did not want to spend that money and it not resolve my issue.Fast forward I receive the Bapmic VSS. I pulled my old OEM VSS out and found where it connected to the harness was corroded and burnt. I installed this VSS and then took the car down the road. It resolved the issue completely.I have been driving the car for around 3 months now and no sign of it failing has presented itself. If you want to save money and fix the speedometer in your civic then this is an absolutely affordable option.
