This is a knife among knives. It’s got a rock solid build quality, with backbone and spine in spades. It’s lightweight without ever feeling floaty, and miraculously still feels pleasantly weighty and solid in the hand. The axis lock system is something that I’ve come to love, and is very convenient without the concession of adding spring assist, which is just one more thing to break. The factory edge is wicked, the satin finish on the blade looks gorgeous, and the blade is stout without feeling stubby. The stabilized wood handle is both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, offering a deceptively firm and reliable grip, and most impressive of all… the gut hook. This knife is worth it for the gut hook alone; as a fisherman, I think it sees more action than the blade itself. I use that hook for opening letters and packages, cutting fishing line and trimming my nails, and even for yes, gutting fish. To me this is everything you could want in a knife. If you’re looking for a gift for a fisherman or hunter or softcore outdoorsman you know, this is a great knife.
